It’s a little old - came out last year - but Square Enix did an entire chiptune remix album, appropriately titled SQ Chips. This is one of my favorite tracks, not just because Final Fantasy XIII’s soundtrack was the best part of the game, but because it’s fascinating to hear it stripped down and still retaining the FF feel.

Just when you think you can’t imagine playing a game to this song on a NES/SNES, the song throws in battle SFX so that you can conjure the image in your mind of a little pixelated Hope being useless in battle.
