Having finished XIII-2, I feel comfortable commenting on the soundtrack
I just have an easier time paying attention to a particular soundtrack while I’m playing the game. Not sure why, but that’s how it is.
Anyway, this soundtrack, despite the crazy techno (and “Crazy Chocobo” of course), it…just…works. The soundtrack was composed by three different people with three differing styles, but it comes together so well. When you think about it, there’s some crazy ass shit going on in XIII-2, paradoxes, time travel, timeline altering.
And “Crazy Chocobo” is perfect because it’s hilarious, and the chocobo headbangs to it while you ride it.
And there’s one thing XIII-2 has loads more of than pretty much any other FF game (aside from the techno, because that’s new :|), and that’s vocal themes. Playing the game, it seemed like damn near everywhere I went had a vocal theme playing in the background. I’ve just gone through and counted, and there’s something like 22 tracks with vocals. Did XIII have anywhere near that many? I…don’t think so, though there where a lot in it, too. Eh, don’t feel like counting. We’ll just say Hamauzu likes his vocals.
Also, “Noel’s Theme -The Last Travel-” kind of brings me to tears.
